Folkin’ fabulous February

We’ve grabbed hold of a bunch of opportunities to bring you some international artists this coming month. We’re also trying out some different venues, the Plimmerton Boating Club and the Third Eye.

8 February (Wednesday) – Winter Wilson (in association with the Plimmerton Boating Club). Your Pres sez “I saw this duo at the Derby festival last year with my friend and my brother and we all really enjoyed their gig. I felt sure you would too, so I’m delighted that the stars have aligned for them to come our way.” We’re ‘cutting free’ with this concert and holding it in Plimmerton, just for a change. 7.30pm, Plimmerton Boating Club, 66 Moana Road, Plimmerton. $25 non-members, $20 members and students.

And for openers, The Hex Crystals!

16 February (Thursday) – Rachel Dawick (in association with the Plimmerton Boating Club). If you’ve seen Rachel before, you’ll know she never disappoints, and she always has something different to offer. Now living overseas, she’s coming back with a special preview of her forthcoming album “A Penny Plain & Two Pence Coloured”. 7.30pm Plimmerton Boating Club. $20 non-members, $15 members and students

23 February (Thursday) – Kirsty Bromley and Simon Dumpleton. Kirsty delighted audiences around New Zealand when she was last here and in February she returns with her musical partner whose “beautiful piano and accordion playing will not disappoint your ears”. 7.30pm The Third Eye, 30 Arthur Street, Te Aro, Wellington. $20 non-members, $15 members and students

Opening acts include a band led by Reuben Jelleyman, and the winner of the Joan Prior Award 2016, Hunter Giltrap.
