Frank Burkitt learned his craft in the late night pub sessions of his native Edinburgh and has been performing as a singer songwriter guitarist for over 10 years.
He moved to Wellington in early 2014 and formed ‘The Frank Burkitt Band’ with Cameron Dusty Burnell (Mandolin), Krissy Jackson (Fiddle), Kara Filbey (Backing Vocals and Percussion) and James Geluk (Double Bass).
Their eagerly anticipated first album, ‘Fools and Kings,’ will be released in October, followed by a national tour.
Frank Burkitt’s music is not confined to one genre, but it has a unique sound and feel at its core. Although heavily influenced by blues, country, bluegrass, swing and Scottish folk, it is good old fashioned song writing that has really underpinned his musical career. Intelligent and thought provoking lyrics are served up alongside music that is as emotive as it is foot-tapping.
Veteran Wellington based singer songwriter who has worked alongside members of Fat Freddies Drop, Trinity Roots, Shapeshifter, Little Bushmen and Supergroove. David’s songs have an intriguing familiarity and sincerity, which are delicately blended in his live shows, where he also lends dynamic interpretation to some of the greats, such as Joni Mitchell and Burt Bacharach.
JULIAN WARD AND DIANA BASTION have been performing as a duo ‘Kaboodle’ for more than five years. Expect folk-roots inspired songs alongside Julian’s beautiful trademark open-tuned guitar.
LIZ AUCHINVOLE is an exciting fiddle player who writes neat songs as well. She featured in last month’s Blind Date Blind concert as a member of The Mixed Meta Fours, and she will be bringing her cohorts back to accompany her this time.
